How to Find a Job in Israel as a Student?
As a career coach in Israel, I often work with college students.
I want you to know that if you’re a college / university student in Israel… and you’re looking for a job… there are many, many options available to you.
Firstly, Look for Jobs in your Field
One of the best ways to find a job in Israel is to look for opportunities in your field of study. Whether you’re studying engineering, business, or another field, there are likely to be job opportunities available.
I have found that the best fields to work in Israel are Hi-Tech, Sales, and Real Estate. If you happen to have experience in these fields, you certainly are already off to a good start.
However, if you dont have experience in these fields (which makes sense because you are a student), you can still find a great job.
Just keep reading this post and other posts on my website for great tips and tricks!
Secondly, Don’t Forget To Check Online Job Boards
There are several online job boards that list job openings in Israel, such as www.jobnet.co.il or www.alljobs.co.il.
In addition, you can check the Nefesh B’Nefesh job board – https://www.nbn.org.il/jobboard/
These are just a few websites which allow you to search for jobs by category, location, and other criteria. Thus, making it easier to find job opportunities in Israel that might be a good fit for you.
Thirdly, You Should Consider When Attending Job Fairs
If you are not sure what a job fair is, here is the official definition: An event in which employers and recruiters give information to potential employees.
Likewise, job fairs are a great opportunity to connect with multiple employers at one time in a single location.
Many universities and colleges in Israel hold job fairs throughout the year, where you can meet with recruiters and learn about job opportunities in your field.
Furthermore, these events can be a great way to connect with potential employers and to learn more about the job market in Israel.
You can always search for the newest upcoming job / employment fairs at these two useful websites – https://www.gov.il/en/departments/news/employment-fair-tel-aviv and https://www.eventbrite.com/d/israel/job-fair/
Fourthly, You Must Network With Others
Networking is an important part of finding a job in any country, and Israel is no exception.
Talk to your professors, classmates, friends, associates, and other contacts to see if they know of any job opportunities in Israel that might be a good fit for you.
You can also use social media platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn to connect with potential employers and industry professionals.
The connections you make on these websites can really help you find a great job that you like… and that pays well.
A Few Extra Tips For You…
-
Be Flexible
Finding a job in Israel can be challenging, so it’s important to be flexible and open to different opportunities. Consider jobs that may not be in your exact field of study but offer transferable skills, and be willing to work in different locations if necessary.
- Improve Your Language Skills
Hebrew is the primary language spoken in Israel, so if you’re not fluent in Hebrew, it may be harder to find a job. Consider taking language classes or practicing your Hebrew on a regular basis to improve your language skills.
- Do Your Follow up Calls
After applying for jobs, make sure to follow up with potential employers to show your interest in the position. This can help you stand out from other candidates and increase your chances of getting hired.
- Don’t Be Afraid To Seek help
Finally, if you’re having trouble finding a job, don’t be afraid to seek help. Your university’s career center or a job placement agency may be able to assist you in your search and provide valuable resources and advice.
You see, I still remember the day I arrived in Israel… I had NO JOB, NO FRIENDS, and NO MONEY.
And it took me several years of living in Israel before I found a decent-paying job at a tech company.
I was working for this company, and was promoted to a leadership position when I had a powerful self-realization:
The purpose of my life, is helping other people get what they want from life.
I looked back into my past and understood that I was always asked to be a leader + trainer + teacher… and I absolutely loved doing it!
Therefore, with my 15+ years of experience in the field of sales and customer service I decided to open a sales training company.
I never thought that I would open my own business in Israel… but I did!
I decided to name my sales training company Sales Development Israel.
Then, I began to use all of my spare time before work and after work creating training materials, and trying to acquire clients.
In addition, I was sending emails and cold calling companies in Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Ramat Gan, Jerusalem, Bat Yam, and Holon.
Basically, I was reaching out across the whole country of Israel in my efforts.
Great news – I was able to find my first few clients!
Something I immediately noticed was at the conclusion of my sales training workshops, two things would happen consistently happen:
Firstly, I would receive feedback that my sales training workshops were providing massive value for the sales team.
Secondly, one or two of the students in the courses would privately approach me.
These students would speak with me about their struggles not only in sales, but also in their lives.
Then one time, a female student offered to pay me for a one-on-one session outside of the office.
She asked me to help her learn how to communicate more effectively, and to help her figure out a better career path.
Another student, approached me and offered to pay me for my time to help prepare him for a job interview.
Similarly, another student from another workshop, at another company, asked me to help them build their self-confidence.
And this would happen again and again and again…
Each of these wonderful people I began to work one-on-one with, had their own unique challenge, and asked me for help.
Each time we developed a plan, strategized, and executed.
These first clients would call me their “Life Coach” or “Career Counselor“, and I am proud to say that I was able to help them.
At the conclusion of our one-on-one sessions, they each had taken took massive steps forward towards the results they wanted!
Eventually, enough people called me their Career Counselor or Life Coach that I began to call myself a “Career Counselor” and ”Life Coach”.
Most people set out to become a trained and certified life coach (קואצ’ר , אימון אישי) or career counselor before ever having a client… that is not my story.
I never once said to myself that I wanted to be a life coach (אימון אישי לחיים) or a career counselor.
This interesting and fulfilling profession came to me… literally.
So that is the short story of how I began life coaching (תל אביב קואצ’ינג לחיים) and career counseling in Tel Aviv Israel.
And after all these years, I’m happy to say I have helped hundreds and hundreds of people from around the world achieve their goals!
Let’s schedule a time for us to speak…
