How to Move to Israel from the United States?

Firstly, congrats to you. You are thinking about starting a new exciting adventure! However, if you’re interested in moving to Israel from the United States, there are many things you’ll need to do to prepare.

Here are some steps to follow to make your move as smooth as possible:

Firstly, Research the visa requirements.

If you’re not an Israeli citizen, you’ll need to obtain a visa in order to live and work in Israel. There are several different types of visas available, so it’s important to research the requirements and determine which visa is best for your situation.

Secondly, Start gathering your documents.

Depending on the type of visa you’re applying for, you will need to provide a variety of documents. Here is a list of most of the documents you will need to provide if you want to move to Israel from America.

  • Valid Passport: A passport with a minimum validity of six months from your intended date of arrival in Israel.
  • Birth Certificate: A certified copy of your birth certificate.
  • Marriage Certificate: If applicable
  • Divorce Certificate: If applicable
  • Criminal Record Check: A police clearance certificate from your country of origin, stating that you have no criminal convictions.
  • Medical Examination: A medical examination by a designated doctor to ensure you meet Israel’s health requirements.
  • Financial Proof: Evidence of sufficient financial means to support yourself and your dependents in Israel. This may include bank statements, employment contracts, or other financial documents.
  • Aliyah Application: Complete the official Aliyah application form provided by the Israeli Ministry of the Interior.
  • Work Permit: If you plan to work in Israel, you may need to obtain a work permit.

Make sure you have all of the necessary documents before you begin the application process.

Thirdly, Apply for your visa.

Once you’ve determined the type of visa you want – information available on this website: (https://embassies.gov.il/washington/ConsularServices/Pages/Visa-Information.aspx) and gathered your documents, you can apply for a visa through the Israeli consulate or the Israeli embassy in the United States.

The application process will take several weeks (minimum), so be sure to start early… and stay patient.

Fourthly, Find a place for you to live.

Before you move to Israel, you’ll need to find a place to live. Research different neighborhoods and cities to determine which area is the best fit for your needs and budget. You can look for rental properties online (here are a few websites you can use – https://www.yad2.co.il , https://www.onmap.co.il/en/ , https://www.zillow.com/il/rent-houses/ , https://www.properstar.com/israel/rent/flat), or of course you can check on Facebook  – or work with a real estate agent to find a place to live.

Fifthly, Learn the language.

While many (if not most) Israelis speak English, learning Hebrew will prove very valuable  when you are trying to navigate everyday life in Israel. If you can, take a language course before you move, or work with a tutor once you arrive.

Also, you will have the option to go to “Ulpan” – A language school to learn Hebrew.  You can find many ulpan’s in every major city in Israel – but keep in mind, you need to pay to attend.

Furthermore, most ulpan’s offer full-time and part-time study programs – and they are a great place to make your first friends in Israel!  🙂

In Conclusion…

Moving to Israel from the United States requires alot of preparation and planning, but with the right steps, you can make the transition smoothly.

Start by researching the visa requirements, gathering your documents, applying for a visa, finding a place to live, learning the language, and connecting with the community – to make your move to Israel a success!

Good luck to you! And if you need any help with advice or assistance getting started, just reach out.

You see, I still remember the day I arrived in Israel… I had NO JOB, NO FRIENDS, and NO MONEY.

And it took me several years of living in Israel before I found a decent-paying job at a tech company.

I was working for this company, and was promoted to a leadership position when I had a powerful self-realization:

The purpose of my life, is helping other people get what they want from life.

I looked back into my past and understood that I was always asked to be a leader + trainer + teacher… and I absolutely loved doing it!

Therefore, with my 15+ years of experience in the field of sales and customer service I decided to open a sales training company.

I never thought that I would open my own business in Israel… but I did!

I decided to name my sales training company Sales Development Israel.

Then, I began to use all of my spare time before work and after work creating training materials, and trying to acquire clients.

In addition, I was sending emails and cold calling companies in Tel Aviv, HerzliyaRamat GanJerusalem, Bat Yam, and Holon.

Basically, I was reaching out across the whole country of Israel in my efforts.

Great news – I was able to find my first few clients

Something I immediately noticed was at the conclusion of my sales training workshops, two things would happen consistently happen:

Firstly, I would receive feedback that my sales training workshops were providing massive value for the sales team.

Secondly, one or two of the students in the courses would privately approach me.

These students would speak with me about their struggles not only in sales, but also in their lives.

Then one time, a female student offered to pay me for a one-on-one session outside of the office.

She asked me to help her learn how to communicate more effectively, and to help her figure out a better career path.

Another student, approached me and offered to pay me for my time to help prepare him for a job interview.

Similarly, another student from another workshop, at another company, asked me to help them build their self-confidence.

And this would happen again and again and again…

Each of these wonderful people I began to work one-on-one with,  had their own unique challenge, and asked me for help.

Each time we developed a plan, strategized, and executed.

These first clients would call me their “Life Coach” or “Career Counselor“, and I am proud to say that I was able to help them.

At the conclusion of our one-on-one sessions, they each had taken took massive steps forward towards the results they wanted!

Eventually, enough people called me their Career Counselor or Life Coach that I began to call myself a “Career Counselor” and ”Life Coach”.

Most people set out to become a trained and certified life coach (קואצ’ר , אימון אישי) or career counselor before ever having a client… that is not my story.

I never once said to myself that I wanted to be a life coach (אימון אישי לחיים) or a career counselor.

This interesting and fulfilling profession came to me… literally.

So that is the short story of how I began life coaching (תל אביב קואצ’ינג לחיים) and career counseling in Tel Aviv Israel.

And after all these years, I’m happy to say I have helped hundreds and hundreds of people from around the world achieve their goals!
