The Five BEST Cities to look for a job in Israel

So obviously, you are looking for a job in Israel… but are you familiar with the country?  Do you know where to look for a job, and which types of jobs are where?  I think one of the best things you should do as a job hunter in Israel is be aware of the employment landscape and the true job market environment.

So here is a list of the five best cities to look for a job in Israel, in order to assist you in your job-hunting journey.

Let’s get into it.

  1. Tel Aviv

 Everybody knows that Tel Aviv is the largest city in Israel, which automatically makes it number one on the list.  More people equal more jobs… but not always.  In the case of Tel Aviv, however the previous statement proves true.

Employment opportunities in Tel Aviv vary in many ways.  For the professional, for the un-skilled laborer, for the sojourner in their early twenties, for the technically skilled, Tel Aviv is the place. 

I would recommend for you to start looking for a job in Tel Aviv… first.

There are so many people in Tel Aviv that you probably already know somebody that works in the city.  Transportation is extremely convenient in Tel Aviv, and you will be able to get from point A to point B quite easily, 7 days a week.

  1. Jerusalem

Although the city closes on Saturday, the traffic is horrendous and although at times it can be dangerous, I still have placed the city of Jerusalem as the second best city to find a job in Israel. 

As with Tel Aviv, your skill-set could possibly be none, and still there is opportunities for you inside of Jerusalem.  The biggest downside about working in Jerusalem if you don’t live there is that you have to be willing to travel. 

They have not yet finished making the city as accessible as it should be, and your daily commuter routes may be extensive.  Therefore, you know what?!  I decided to change my mind, and move Jerusalem one more down the list to the third best city in Israel to find a job in. 

Therefore, consider #3 as #2 from now on.

Nonetheless, I would say that in order to pay the bills and survive and Israel, you should stay flexible and understand that you will most likely be stuck in traffic at some point.  Depending on where you live now, or are planning to live in Israel, to live you might as well check out what jobs are available in Jerusalem.

  1. Herzliya

Known around the world as the high-tech startup capital nation, Israel have many, many high-tech employment opportunities for you.  The center of technological companies in Israel is in Herzliya, Israel.

A five-kilometer radius of high-rise buildings, can tell you from afar, that you are looking in on a technical high-tech hub.  With names like Apple, Samsung, Hewlett-Packard, and Dell’s Israeli offices centered in this city, you may find opportunity here.

However, I do not recommend for the unskilled new immigrant to begin their search in this city.  If you have a computer focused, high-tech background, Herzliya may be the best place for you to start looking for a job in Israel.  So don’t hesitate, start there.

  1. Haifa

You may be moving to Israel from a third world country, and you might not speak Hebrew yet.  That’s okay because there are job opportunities waiting for you today in the area of  the Haifa city center.

F.Y.I.  –  It is quite common for people to live in Haifa and commute to Tel Aviv daily for work.  There should be a few skilled, technical, office jobs waiting for you to discover them as well.  Find these types of jobs in Haifa online.

  1. Ramat Gan

Touching the north-west region of Tel Aviv is a rather small city on a hill.  Somehow, someway, it serves as the major financial district in Israel.  With a Diamond Exchange, a Stock Exchange, and an overall energy of growth… you WILL come across the city of Ramat Gan in your job search.

Ramat Gan is like a miniature Tel Aviv, with companies that hire in virtually all professions.  Transportation is not an issue as central metro station extends from Ramat Gan to all cities of Israel very nicely.

Downside about working in Ramat Gan:  Transportation only runs 5 days a week.  So, don’t look for a weekend job in Ramat Gan.

You see, I still remember the day I arrived in Israel… I had NO JOB, NO FRIENDS, and NO MONEY.

And it took me several years of living in Israel before I found a decent-paying job at a tech company.

I was working for this company, and was promoted to a leadership position when I had a powerful self-realization:

The purpose of my life, is helping other people get what they want from life. 

I looked back into my past and understood that I was always asked to be a leader + trainer + teacher… and I absolutely loved doing it!

Therefore, with my 15+ years of experience in the field of sales and customer service I decided to open a sales training company.

I never thought that I would open my own business in Israel… but I did!

I decided to name my sales training company Sales Development Israel.

Then, I began to use all of my spare time before work and after work creating training materials, and trying to acquire clients.

In addition, I was sending emails and cold calling companies in Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Ramat Gan, Jerusalem, Bat Yam, and Holon.

Basically, I was reaching out across the whole country of Israel in my efforts.

Great news – I was able to find my first few clients! 

Something I immediately noticed was at the conclusion of my sales training workshops, two things would happen consistently happen: 

Firstly, I would receive feedback that my sales training workshops were providing massive value for the sales team.

Secondly, one or two of the students in the courses would privately approach me.

These students would speak with me about their struggles not only in sales, but also in their lives.

Then one time, a female student offered to pay me for a one-on-one session outside of the office.

She asked me to help her learn how to communicate more effectively, and to help her figure out a better career path.

Another student, approached me and offered to pay me for my time to help prepare him for a job interview.

Similarly, another student from another workshop, at another company, asked me to help them build their self-confidence.

And this would happen again and again and again…

Each of these wonderful people I began to work one-on-one with,  had their own unique challenge, and asked me for help.

Each time we developed a plan, strategized, and executed.

These first clients would call me their “Life Coach” or “Career Counselor“, and I am proud to say that I was able to help them.

At the conclusion of our one-on-one sessions, they each had taken took massive steps forward towards the results they wanted!

Eventually, enough people called me their Career Counselor or Life Coach that I began to call myself a “Career Counselor” and ”Life Coach”.

Most people set out to become a trained and certified life coach (קואצ’ר , אימון אישי) or career counselor before ever having a client… that is not my story.

I never once said to myself that I wanted to be a life coach (אימון אישי לחיים) or a career counselor.

This interesting and fulfilling profession came to me… literally.

So that is the short story of how I began life coaching (תל אביב קואצ’ינג לחיים) and career counseling in Tel Aviv Israel.

And after all these years, I’m happy to say I have helped hundreds and hundreds of people from around the world achieve their goals!
