I’m a life coach and a career counselor in Israel, and today’s article is going to be odd, “considering” what is “normal” during these times. I am going to talk about The Global Pandemic and How it is Making your Life Better? Basically, some of the positive things that have come out of this Covid-19 craziness that we live in today… so let’s get into it.
Before Corona hit, you had a job, and the economy was doing great. Let’s say that life was much, much simpler. The impact in my life, and certainly life for most… was as a slap in the face about the way that life works. And there was a lot less worry going on around us.
Some of us are thinking:
- “We had a good, but we didn’t even know we had it good…”
- “I hate Covid-19, and I wish…”
- “It was…”
- “Before the pandemic hit…”
- “I can’t wait until it goes back to normal…”
Therefore, now you see the need for more optimism in you life… so let us begin.
The 1st Positive thing About The Global Pandemic: You Are Forced into Becoming More Adaptable.
“It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change.”
– Leon C. Megginson
Increasing your ability to shift and to transform and to meld with the times is evolving. Some would say “evolution” in itself, is a good thing.
Here are some of ways we MUST manage these pandemic induced, lockdown provoked changes:
- Adapting your income
- Adaptations in your lifestyle
- Changes in your relationships
- A shift in how much free time you have
Let’s look at our ability to deal with these forced changes, as though we were looking at the quality of our character. Let’s consider the positives, regarding the massive shifting in our lives… in order to create wisdom for the long-term.
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it.
If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
– Bruce Lee
The 2nd Positive thing About The Global Pandemic: Spending More Time with Family.
“The single most important factor in our long-term happiness is the relationships we have with our family and close friends.”
-Clayton M. Christensen
Because we’re being forced to spend more time with our family we’re getting to know them better. Through getting to know our loved ones better, we are able to actually serve them better tomorrow… and for the long-term.
The day-in day-out 21st century grind has most of us spending very little time together with our family, and it’s a pity. We can’t possibly believe it is healthy if deeply involved, and engaged in this cycle. It just doesn’t feel right does it?
What if this global pandemic craziness has given us gifts? What if we were able to look at this increased family-time… as a gift?
“At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict, or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, a parent.”
– Barbara Bush
The 3rd Positive thing About The Global Pandemic: You Have More Free Time To Learn and Grow.
“You will be amazed at how much free time you have when you never have to think about money…”
– Bob Proctor
What if this free, extra time you have is an opportunity? Did you know you can improve almost anything that you wish to improve? You can now take this time to invest it properly and become great at something.
Let’s say you are already really good at something/anything. You now have the free time to study/learn/practice intensively, in order to become an expert. You can improve immensely in external (outer-world = activities/sports/profession/hobbies).
With the 2 week mandatory lockdown once you arrive at most destinations, travel internationally has almost come to a halt. However, another phenomenal way to learn and grow is to travel…internally. Wherever you are in the world, you can take a trip inward.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy to go inward and face the silence… but it’s an opportunity to do it. I promise you might come out on the other side a better human being!
Say not: “When I have free time I shall study, for you may perhaps never have any free time.”
– Hillel the Elder
In Conclusion: Life is Good, Be Grateful You Have One.
About The Author of The Global Pandemic and How it is Making your Life Better?…
My name is Claude Massey I’ve been living in Israel for 10+ years, and what an adventure it has been! So, how exactly did I become a life coach and career counselor in Tel Aviv, Israel?
Here is my story…
As the start-up capital of the world, Israel has plenty of new companies with growing English-speaking sales teams. Therefore, with my 15+ years of experience in the field of sales, I decided to open a sales training company.
At once, I went to an accountant to file the proper paperwork to legally operate my NEW sales consulting company. Afterwards, I began to use all of my spare time (at this point I had a full-time job for a high-tech company) after work and before work creating materials and trying to acquire clients.
I knew what I had to do and whom I wanted to target.
At the conclusion of my sales training workshops, through telling stories and teaching specific sales techniques, two things would happen consistently happen:
They would speak with me about their struggles, not only in sales but also in life.
Then one time, a female student offered to pay me for a one-on-one sit down session outside of the office. She asked me to help her figure out a better career path. As a struggling entrepreneur, I accepted.
Similarly, another student from another workshop, at another company me to help them work with their confidence and being able to communicate efficiently. This would happen again, and again…
In addition, these first clients called me their “Life Coach” or “Career Counselor“.
Eventually, enough people paid me to sit down with them and called me their “Career Counselor” or “Life Coach”… that I began to call myself a “Career Counselor” and ”Life Coach”.
And that is the super-short story of how I began life coaching and career counseling in Tel Aviv Israel.
Now, 5 years later, I can say that I’m happy to say I have helped thousands of people.
